About Me I'm John DeVaul and welcome to my online photography portfolio. Having a dad who is a professional photographer, I have developed a big interest in photography. While my dad shoots mostly still-life and portraits, I shoot mostly landscapes. This allows me to combine my photography with my other passion, spending time outdoors. I enjoy photographing the most beautiful areas of north east Ohio. I have also photographed the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, the Atlantic coast of Maine, and the coastal Redwood forests of northern California. My goal for this upcoming summer is to travel to Yosemite National Park and capture the intense beauty of this national landmark. I currently shoot with a Nikon d80 DSLR, and a Tokina 28-70mm lens. While I see the artistic value of film photography, I feel that digital photography allows the photographer more creative freedom in that he/she can enhance a photograph using Adobe Photoshop. I have been awarded a 2nd place at the North Chagrin Nature Photography contest. I would like to learn more about studio lighting and composing still-lifes in the future.
